visiting Oxford in October - anywhere good for lunch?

Lasr time I was in Oxford was about 1970,so no memory of it. Any pleasant pubs with good food,or unpretentious restaurants?

Pierre Victoire is ridiculously good value for lunch (3 courses for £10.90 Monday to Saturday) and has a very nice, relaxed atmosphere.

The wife and I struggle to spend more than £40 on lunch even with wine, coffees and a fairly generous tip.

If you like unpretentious, and pies, then i would definately recommend Pieminister in the covered market. Best pie's i've ever had, with mash, gravy and mushy peas all served on a metal plate. What's not to like?!!

Yes, covered market is great. Alternatively, try the Old Bank hotel.
