MSG in home cooking
Discussion
Does anyone here use MSG in their home cooking? I picked some up a few weeks ago but only got round to using it yesterday evening. I made 2 pans of chilli as I normally do - one mild for a friend and little 'un, and one a little more manly. Apart from the amount of chillis the rest of the ingredients were identical.
I put a tablespoon of MSG in the hotter one, and the difference was really noticable - much more flavour, not just the chillis, but all the ingredients were much more noticable.
Does anyone else use it at home?

I don't have any MSG, but I would not be averse to using it in food. I know some people have some really ingrained beliefs about how bad MSG is for you, but I don't buy all that. The Japanese have no problem using it, nor do they have the same strict rules on salt, their RDA is advised as 12g by their government, vs 6g for us, but they don't have the same high saturated fat intake as us.
