Stoneware pot from slowcooker

As part of my Crockpot slowcooker this is an hob-proof stoneware dish and lid. I've used it a few times, but recently I've noticed that when the dish has been stored for a few weeks, this misty white layer appears.

I've scrubbed, soaked, dried, air dried, stored in a cool place, and everything I can think of but it keeps appearing. I've been washing it before use and it still seems ok, but what is it? How can I stop it going manky while it's in the cupboard?

Mrs Puggit sells stoneware, so I'll ask if she knows. She does state (very forcefully) that detergents should never be used on it.

Do you put it in the dishwasher? Sounds as though the salt needs topping up.

Had one years ago and it did exactly the same. I don't think it was something actually on the csurface of rockpot, seemed more like the glaze had discoloured for want of a better description.
