Cheap crap white rum. Put a touch of Muscovado sugar in it to put some sweetness into the oak. As the spirit to oak ratio is quite high the stuff won’t need to be in there for very long to extract some colour and flavour. It might have vodka in it at the moment, so what should I try next?

Apparently they're working on a kit which is a 1 litre barrel with a litre of white dog spirit so you can actually taste it as it ages. Buffalo Trace have stopped doing their white dog sadly.
Once thing though, how do you plan what to age next? Bourbon to Scottish whisky is a pretty straight forward combo, but then would you put sherry in after that? Or should you start another barrel with sherry and then finish something else in that?
This is going to get expensive...
