Replacement Coffee Maker

I have one of these:

..which has just gone kaput.


I like it because it has the thermal jug thingy.

A replacement is needed but I doubt I'll get anything similar so something that will make a mug full.

Are there any that can do ground and beans?

Bit noisy when its grinding the beans and you have to empty the beans if your going to use filter. But its nice to have 'proper' coffee whenever you want.

At the moment I fill a flask every morning for work, takes three large mugs, flask full in less than 5 minutes from turning on the machine.

We've got a delonghie as well, but it has two hoppers, one for beans which stays full and the other for frond which you add in when you want.

Great for the misses who likes here decade and night, and I like my full bean knockout juice.

depends on your budget really - we have a Prima Donna and whilst expensive to buy it makes a latte/etc which comes pretty close to the high street store version - so I think we have saved money since buying it and I suspect we are now pretty close to breaking even as I rarely get a coffee whilst out and about now.

Have you thought about a Nespresso machine or similar? It works out at about 30p per mug for the coffee, but if the machine is cheaper, it's less hassle and you're not using it lots of times per day it could be a good option?

and think it's great, but then it only tends to get used at weekends. We order capsules on line in boxes of 200, free delivery, and lots of different flavours and strengths to choose from.

We had a traditional espresso machine before, but found cleaning it out and waiting for it to get hot enough to use the steamer was a bit of a pain. Just turn this thing on, drop a capsule in and press a button. Similarly, for milk frothing just pour the milk in cold and press one button to froth and heat (works much better than we'd imagined).

That was quite an expensive machine; generally speaking the best filter coffee makers are produced by a Dutch firm called Moccamaster. I haven't checked but from memory one of their models drips the coffee directly into a thermos.

If you're nostalgic about that particular machine, there's always ebay...

I have Nespresso machine and I love the Arpeggio variety they do. I think it's the tastiest coffee I have ever tried however, I do like variety and there is more variety in bean and filter coffees out there so with hindsight, when this machine goes kaput I will replace it with a proper coffee grinder etc.

I've just got a Tassimo to replace my leaking old Senseo and it's bloody brilliant. Makes an ace caramel latte

Not big bucks, you can get them from Currys online about £40 cheaper than anywhere else at the mo and it comes with a £20 coffee voucher for ordering online.

Sure, it's not a gourmet machine but it makes a bloody acceptable coffee, it's clean quick and it's one touch.
