Tried Virgin, Nectar, the Times and a few others (not the wine society though) and given up on them all.

T be honest, I've found that going to Majestic and getting to know the staff gives a higher hit rate. We can now walk in to the local store and they'll recommend things to try, based on new arrivals and stuff we've previously liked.

The Wine Society is very good. It is a true mutual, gets access to some exceptional stuff and has a stock of mature wines too. The own label stuff, particularly the exhibition range is very good indeed (I had a bottle of their Exhibition Central Otago pinot last night - great value at £12.50 a bottle). They do good tastings occasionally. Very wide range from £5 a bottle to £100+. Highly recommended

Yes, but are the majority of those "25% off" offers real offers? I'd wager most are not, and the majorithy of lines that are subject to that
offer that are gen reductions will be stocked in very low numbers.

As regarding wine clubs, most of the clubs are in fact the same company marketing under different names. Same thing, different face.

The Wine society however is a different kettle of fish. Has an immense reuptation, not pretentious, good pricing, cannot go wrong really.

I've been a member of Naked Wines for the last 6 months and have had several excellent cases off them.

Unless things have changed recently, most of them are all the same: branded offerings run by Laithwaites.

You'll notice that a large number of the "bargains" also happen to be "exclusives" which makes comparing prices with other merchants impossible. A coincidence?

BTW, Wine Society currently offering £20 in credit to new members until the end of the year. Makes the effective cost to join just £20 - money well spent (and no obligation to buy anything at any point).

Had an email from Naked Wines today telling me that they owed me £80 of wine. I don't get it. I've spent a total of £40 with them ever.

Wine Society is another recommendation. It's a commercial operation, but is as close to a wine Co-Op run for the interests of wine lovers as you could get in this country. They sell wine in so many ways, and at so many levels I can't work out how they stay in business but long may they last!

I've had some good Laithwaites box deals, worth a look.

I use Naked Wines and The Wine Society .... very happy with both.

I'm an "Angel" with Naked Wines which means a regular monthly payment vs a decent discount and they have some really good stuff at reasonable prices.

I joined TWS because I wanted to buy a case of their excellent Society Crusted Port but have since bought many good value cases from them.

Wine Society lifetime membership normally £40 now with £20 off first order, order before Dec 13th 2012 making it effectively £20 for lifetime membership seems a bargain.
