Do they discount the price if your products come to less than £3 ?
Edit, I thought it was £2.50 at Tesco ?

I read "£3 or less" on the signs when i bought my sandwich last weekend. It did work out cheaper as i did buy a bog standard sandwich.

I'm not saying you are wrong as Tesco has been known to this type of deal.

As you say this, i was in Asda the other day and bought some pretzels and they were on a deal for £1 a pack. I went to the self serv counter and they scaned up as the usual price.
This does make you wonder how many people pick stuff up, dump it in the trolley and think they are getting a deal when they are not.

Thats how they make their money.

A few places it's "up to £x.xx" so if you get the cheaper sandwich it discounts it, pretty sure Tesco's deal is like this.

Yes they do, so it isn't fraud but it's certainly misleading.

What is wrong with the way Tesco's are doing it that almost every combination is less than the 'deal' price.

But if the three items you choose come to less, they charge you the lower amount?

I go in to buy a sandwich. Tesco persuade me with a promotional offer that I will get a discount if I add crisps and a drink.
When I get to the till its BS, there is no 'deal' at all, its just a blatant attempt to mislead.

I had a rant because Tesco seem to play this game all the time and sadly I have no choice during lunch other than Tesco.

Except for maybe pre-planning and making your own lunch but that would require too much thought.

I really don't see your problem. The promotion is very clear - to make the most of the deal pick the more expensive items. I.e.

Buy:

1x Chorizo and Chipotle Sandwich
1x bottle of Coke
1x large pack of Dorito's

Don't Buy:

1x Egg and Cress
1x can of Coke
1x pack of Space Raiders
