Where to have dinner in London?

I'm visiting London next week with the girlfriend and would like a few recommendations for dinner

We'd like one posh place for excellent food and a couple of other places, preferably within easy reach of Bloomsbury for a decent evening meal for other evenings.

The Hawksmoor is good for meat fans.

If you like Asian food, go to Nobu in Mayfair. Getting a table might be tricky however but it's worth a try. If you get there make sure you order the black cod - it's stunning. Otherwise, in the same vein, Roka on Charlotte Street is very good and you should be able to get a table there.

For a cheap and cheerful lunch or dinner, try the 'Tas' chain of Anatolian restaurants. There's one in Bloomsbury near the British Museum.

It's kebabby/dippy/meze type stuff with flatbreads (irresistible). I could eat my own weight in the one which has black onion seeds on it.

I rather like hakkasan, though Goodmans is good for the steak... (as is hawksmoor)

bookings will be very hard to get as its coming upto christmas and everyone is having their work xmas meals.

We went to Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental recently and it was exceptionally good. We are going back next month for another visit.

+1. Went for the buffet last Sunday, food was amazing. All in all, a great experience, especially their Irish coffee. The preparation of that is something I've never seen before, well worth it!

That matches my experience of it. I'd far rather go to Bodeans at 1/3 the cost.
