Just interested really as it has become a bit of a craze here. Most get in, then spend the first 10 minutes of the day preparing porridge / cereal and eating it at their desk.

I personally do as I don't have time at home in the morning anymore (kids) and would die without a bowl of Cheerios.

Is this acceptable practice at your place of work?

I do yes, some pot of Porridge but one of those pots where you just add water, work close to home and I'm not usually hungry when I wake up, alot of the people around me also eat their breakfast here, we even have pizza at our desks at times, for lunch though obviously

Sometimes.
I built my own heater in the workshop from scrap bits of car, I also made a U shaped pan from (new) exhaust offcuts. Its perfect for a sausage or bacon butty on a cold day smile

Sometimes at work, sometimes at home, sometimes both. I like flexibility in my day wink

yes, normally porridge as it's easy with limited kitchen facilities (kettle and microwave!)

But then I'm normally in the office at 7am so have plenty of time to myself before everyone else arrives.

If I'm out doing client visits etc. I normally just give it a miss.

Ok, sounds like it is generally accepted then!

It's definitely hot porridge season.

Canteen at work. Usually sausage roll for breakfast, or cheese on toast, or sausage and bacon butty. Today was sausage and bacon butty, could do with another one now!

I mainly eat at home, but a lot of people have breakfast at work, seems to make sense.

We order breakfast butties in on a Friday too, but the cafe we order from wern't answering this morning, thus I'm bloody hungry right now!

Can;t wait till the sandwich van arrives!

It's a shadowy area this one!

I ran quite a large company and eventually had to abandon all hot food in the office. People certainly used 30 minutes or so of their working day to eat breakfast - and then hot food for lunch too. My office rapidly became a smelly restaurant with everything from Pot Noodles to curries being eaten. Clients would arrive in the afternoon for a presentation in the board room and we attempted to win their business amidst the smell of dozens of lunches.

I tried various (expensive) air exchange solutions and eventually had to remove cookers and microwaves.

It's such a difficult area and very hard to find a decent compromise. Certainly walking around the office at 9:30 to the 'clink' of spoons and forks over huddled breakfasts is a bit irritating - once people start doing it, it's hard to stop it.

Takes me all of 2 minutes to eat a bowl of cereal in the morning, never quite understand how a lot people reckon they don't have time. I'd have collapsed fo starvation before I made it in to the office if I didn't have breakfast before I left home biggrin
