Mrs wants one anybody recommend a decent one please keep in mind it may only get used once like most kitchen gadgets

I have a Cuisinart which I use all the time. I tried a Philips previously which was very flimsy. Don't imagine that you are going to save any money by making your own but the fun of being able to make any flavour you like is priceless.

It's good, you just have to make your own custard and then chuck it in the freezer. 2 hours later ice cream

Maybe worth a try before you go the whole hog and buy a £200+ thing?

The smaller one gets used more often. Probably because it is much easier to get out of the cupboard!

I've got the wee Magimix. It works very well and doesn't cost so much that you'll care if it goes unused.

Slight problem. I seem to have soiled the 2008 mum of the year pull out! Should be ok apart Kerry Katona's a bit stuck together.

We had a Gelato which was nice piece of kit. We used ours a lot and the ice creams were sumptuos but the OH mostly made sorbets with it, obviously for calorie control reasons. I prefferd the ice cream but home made fruit sorbets are just stunning, you will never look at a shop bought one the same again.
I wouldnt recommend that brand as it failed at about 2 years old and we threw it out. By then the fun must have gone out of it because we never replaced it, even though I offered, the results were that good.
If you think you can get away with breadmaker we have 2 we never use
