What??

What do you mean it's Christmas day in a couple of days?

Oh heck, perhaps I'd better do some shopping tomorrow then,

Can I have some inspiration for Christmas Day please?

The trouble is, we need to leave the house in the morning - go to the Mother-In-Law, then to collect my Mum and get her back to ours where a meal will be ready in relatively short order in the late afternoon. Leave at 10, back at 3, eat at 4 sort of thing.

So I need something I can bang in before we leave to return maybe 5 hours later. Or that can be slowcooked.

Any ideas please, most welcomed!

Last year I did a gammon joint in the slow cooker, the year before, a slow cooked leg of lamb in the oven but don't want to repeat myself.

I've had a request for my home made leek & Potato soup to start so that's easy but looking for ideas to get round my timing dilemma!

Cheers -Dunc

Try something that can be quick cooked. We have a joint of fillet steak for xmas and we love it.

roll it round a hot pan for five minutes, in the oven for 30, job done.

Like the sound of that - except beef is off limits as my wife still worries about Mad Cow disease... no, I've already done all the obvious jokes!

Chicken, or perhaps a turkey crown, in the slow cooker. Do it breast down and it'll come out really tender.

Pork belly slow cooked in the oven.

Pork shoulder sounds ideal for your predicament.
