Tesco 12 Year Old Islay Malt Whisky - Opinions please!

Thinking of buying this as a present for a friend whose into single malts.
I can't really afford the branded scottish whiskies such as Laphraoig and Lagavulin which I believe are peaty/smoky in flavour.
Would the Tescos one be ok?
It has excellent reviews but just wanting the PH opinion.

Gets good reviews, and there are some suggestions it may be from Lagavulin... although others have said it's Bruichladdich.

Either way, seems worth a go.

£20! Just looked online and it normally retails at nearer £40!

But its not a peaty flavour which my friend likes but may be worth the risk :-)

Fiddich is entirely different to the majority of the Islays , so if its peat he likes, then its an Islay which will best suit

Sainsbury's also do an own lable Islay, has a lot of fans it seems, I've heard it being thought of as either Bowmore or Caol Ila.

If you have a whisky speicalist nerby, you may be able to find Finlaggen at £20 or so, there's another as well, The Ileach, both peaty Islays .

Bought the Tesco 12 year old Islay malt. Less than £20 which is a bargain. No box which would have been nice.

I bought this for £18.50 a few weeks ago, and thought it was very good value for money. It got a Silver medal in the International spirit challeng with an outstanding badge as well.
I thought it tasted like a below par Bowmore.

Sent this to a friend in Sweden but it looks like its been intercepted by customs :-)

Going to have to do it the right way this time through Whiskey Exchange or similar.
Any ideas who to use?

I think it is an excellent dram, and I'm a fan of Islay malts.
