Having spent my university years in Hull I became rather enamoured with chip spice. However it doesn't seem to be available down in Kent.

Can someone get hold of some for me and post it to me? obviously I will pay by PayPal.

Would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

There's something I never heard of before, find out where to buy 'E621' and make your own:

"INGREDIENTS: Salt, Flavour Enhancer E621, Tomato Powder, Paprika (11%), Onion, Garlic."

biggrin

Never been quite as good as the original stuff introduced to Hull by John Science at the original Yankeeburger on Jameson St in 1979 which was much more of a complex flavour than the modern stuff.

I'd never heard of it until my ex, who was from Beverley, suggested it to me. Damn tasty stuff though

What is American Chip Spice?

American Chip Spice is an american-style seasoning salt intended for chips, french fries, bbqs, burgers, and more! Originating in Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire in the North East of England, today it is most commonly available in chip shops & takeaways in the Hull & East Yorkshire area and has cult status among locals & people that at one time have lived in the area. It's not actually American.

The original Yankeeburger secret recipe was definitely developed from a "seasoned salt" from the US, but the modern stuff just seems like a very simplified version of that to me.

E621 is MSG. That'll be why it's so tasty.

swap the MSG for some cheap chicken stock powder, add to all the other ingredients mentioned and you've pretty much got the same product.

Either that or go to a cash n carry food store in Hull and buy a few cases of it to last you
