I thought the price was steep until I saw how much the T-Shirts were going for. I suppose I shouldn't be too critical about the price of the shirts, for all I know Hotpoint are charging the same or more for theirs.

In any case couldn't bring myself to spend £180 on what appears to be a steel box, rather wait for the £10 Chinese knockoffs which should hit our shores just in time for summer.

The oven looks interesting - I love a good pizza and I'd certainly be tempted to buy one of these. But I just don't like the concept of Kickstarter at all. Its not for charity and its not for a good cause. If the plan works then this guy gets rich selling £160 ovens. Why should I fund the project for him and get nothing in return? (outside of novelty gifts worth nowhere near what you paid).

I realise on this one you can pledge the purchase price and you'll get one if it goes ahead, so you've not lost anything. But why wooly do you want to contribute £30 towards someone else's startup and get a £5 t-shirt in return? I'd far rather see it setup where you pay £1000+ and you get a share in the company (dragons den type thing)

You get the oven! You pledge money to get the product at the end! You don't pay £160 and then receive nothing... Yes that would be a stupid idea.

The money you pledge is to give the entrepreneur money to begin developing the product, which they then send to you upon completion (assuming all goes to plan).

In this specific Kickstarter you can pledge £160 and you get the oven, so you pay retail price and get the product. In a lot of them you simply chuck money at someone else's commercial venture and get basically nothing of value back.
