Not sure If this is a thread for F,D&R or health matters, but as its for recipes ill put it here.

I am trying to put on weight and due to illness had lost a lot of it, now have put on about 2 an a half stone and now have reached a plateau.

as I am now not putting on any more weight and have started exercising again, im guess Im going to be loosing weight but need a bit of fat incase Im ill again, as I can loose up to a stone in 3-4 weeks.

so, what high calorie recipes do you know, and are tasty.

only one stipulation tho, No eggs as they give me the serious runs for days after. otherwise I could be eating a whole choc cake a day to put weight on lol

lol yeah, hadnt really thought about that, tis a good idea.

BUT, Even though I would love a dirty takeaway breakfast lunch and dinner, I dont think it would be good for cholesterol or my wallet.

If not bothered whether it is healthy high calories, you can't go too far wrong with pie (x2 even better) of some description along with chips, gravy (and or peas) and a few slices of thick white and a few pints of Guinness to wash it all down.
Worked 'wonders' for me in the past (apart from Guinness, which I can't stand - lager & ale instead) frown .

Go nuts...

Seriously, make up flapjacks with oats, nuts, dried fruit, honey, peanut butter, mashed banana. Get the down between meals = jobs a good one and all the ingredients are healthy & cheap.

hmm, interesting, might have to do that, but use some mass gainer powder mixed up instead of water.

im guessing a standard flapjack recipe is the same as any other one?

You'll need a binder. Some recipes use golden syrup, other suggest carnation milk. My pick is mashed banana and peanut butter, because I'd rather eat fruit & good fats than sugar.

Fat is more than twice as calorie dense as carbs or protein, so good fats are going to work well for you.

take two of these, 3 times a day before meals and see how you get on.

Dr Dudleybloke has made me very hungry laugh

If you want to become a bit fatter, try eating sausage rolls and pork pies, the calorie content is terrifying! Perhaps drink a lot of fresh fruit juice too?

Empty a whole tub of vanilla Ben & Jerrys into a blender.
Add half a tub of peanut butter.
add half a pot of single cream and/or gold top milk.
Add two packets of malteesers.

Blend.

Drink.

I don't think you'd hold that down!

Good call on the PB though - the proper stuff is actually healthy. OP - try peanut butter and raspberry jam sandwiches on Hovis Granary Wholemeal. They are a bit moreish.

Just don't come back in a week complaining that you are now 37st.

Here you go: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1161646/chocola...

I made one a little back for a McMillan Coffee Morning at work, and it went down amazingly well. A few slices of that should sort you out!!

lol yeh i deff will not come back complaining that Im 37 stone, I doubt I would be alive at that weight.

the PB an jam sandwiches are a good call, I really like them, and can eat loads in a sitting. I think I ate half a loaf of bread in that way before wink

and thanks for the ideas, but I think a few people didnt read my OP properly, as I put I cannot eat eggs, as eating them would make me loose weight from the runs i would get.

and good idea on the icecream, peanut butter, malteasers and so on, would just have to do that with a different one than ben an jerrys, as again, that has egg in it.

On the contrary - not only could I hold them down but I fking loved them.
It was a particularly delicious way of attempting to gain weight - but was also quite pricey.
