I like Patron (the original flavour) the salt and lemon accentuate the flavour rather than mask the horrid taste of cheap s
t you get at some bars, or the pre mixed rubbish.
There are better than Patron but there are much worse. I tend to cut up jalepeno peppers and put them in the bottle...the spicey flavour works great in margaritas.

Hi there,Not sure if this is any good or not, the brand is owned by Cleo Roccos (yes she of Kenny Everett fame). I actually emailed them yesterday to get wholesale pricing etc as its one we might add to our Tequila range. They also do an Agave syrup which is great in cocktails.
As for favourites, I am quite enjoying Excellia at the moment. There blanco is a great tequila and mixes really well with a decent tonic water. Yes Tequila and tonic works, its much better than shotting it.
I have recently tried Clase Azul as well. Stunning Tequila and superb packaging, just a bit rich at around £100 a bottle.

orange and cinnamon with Tequila is a huge thing in Germany, wierdly. In mexico, the only time you will get fruit with your tequila is to squeeze a little lime into the spirit.
To be honest, with good tequila, there is no need for lemon or salt. its something that was developed for US college kids drinking really nasty stuff.
You can't get a big range of tequilas in the UK (I manage one of the top 10 US brands, and we dont sell it in the UK yet).
If you go to a good spirits shop, I would look for brands like Ocho, Gran Centenario, Don Julio etc.
Avoid anything that doesnt say "100% Agave" on the label (its the main quality indicator, without it they can blend the tequila with grain alcohol), and don't bother with Patron...its tequila for vodka drinkers. i.e. flavorless.

I'm a big tequila fan and I've been to a few tasting sessions at the Lupe Pinto store in Glasgow. My two favourites are Heraduras Anejo and Tapatio blanco.
Patron and Don Julio are easier to find and both very good also. I was introduced to quality tequila by my US colleages and they tend to drink it on ice with a twist of lime - which has become my favourite method. In Mexico it is often drunk straight with a small glass of spicy sangrita to the side(you can look up recipies on the internet) - you take alternate sips from the tequila and the Sangita (which refreshes your palate).
