Wines for a Wedding.

Luckily we don't have to pay corkage at our upcoming wedding venue so we're happy to provide our own wines.
No-one there is a particular wine snob so i'm looking for suggestions for a red, a white and a rose at a decent price.
Happy to buy from a wine retailer but i'm inclined to think that the stuff from a supermarket will do the job.
15 - 20 bottles of each colour should be enough.
Do any of the supermarkets do decent bulk buy deals or is it a case of what you see is what you get?

Personally I'd be going for a nice young white Rioja, inexpensive and easy to drink. Red I would go Argentinian Malbec, good bargains to be had here. Rose I would look at Provençal. Stay away from supermarkets and go to a decent merchant and you should get a cracking deal.

Regularly have discounts (25% off 6 type things) at various points in the year.Do any of the supermarkets do decent bulk buy deals or is it a case of what you see is what you get?
A decent independent merchant will also discount AND will offer you sale or return AND can probably help out with glassware loan.
Out of curiosity, how much wine have you budgeted for per drinker? And do you have a price per bottle target?

Brilliant Chilean stuff.What is the budget per bottle? Good if you can do a red, White & a Rose from the same wine maker - no-one feels dis-enfranchised, I am thinking of something like Villa Maria from New Zealand .

it's £3.59 and Aldi don't do the 5% off case deals. I'd suggest that, as your red wine choice, as it's very easy to drink.
Difficult if you want to know the best, cheapest wines available as you didn't give a budget - but I'd suggest Tesco's Cava ( approx £4.79, with 5% off 6) as an everyday sparkler.
You can always use red/white or bubble printed bottle wraps to cover the bottles up so no-one knows what the wines actually are

You can probably get something entirely acceptable at that, but you get massively better wine for relatively small extra £ per bottle. You'd struggle to go wrong with the Under £6 list from the Wine Society (although you do need to pay a one off fee for membership), and lots of good stuff just slightly into the next price band up.Price was I wasn't too sure would a fiver a bottle give or take be unrealistic?
The big problem with providing your own wine is getting the quantity right, having the right mix of red:white, and keeping consumption in check if you've got a limited stock. This becomes even more of a problem if there's no other drink available at the venue (which means you really don't want to run out) and/or you're providing it FOC to guests (makes them thirstier).
Have you decided what you're eating?
lager for the lads, glass of white wine for the ladies...
You could have some more fun, of course: blue nun for the wine buffs, good wine for the oldies, chardonnay with an umbrella for the bride's sister...
I think we had NZ Sauvignon blanc as a white, beaujolais red. And a keg of summer lightning!
