Having a crack at Beef Wellington to be served with French beans, slow cooked red cabbage and some sort of vegetable gratin.
Then we're having chocolate fondue for dessert with tropical fruits and marshmallows.
Picked up a bottle of Laurent Perrier Rose from Booker for a smidgen under £35 too.

Looks like a great choice of menu Tony - I'm sat here salivating! Keep meaning to come down to your place as my family has a holiday house in Kingsbridge and it's nice to venture slightly further afield - I'll have to make sure I do next time I'm down!http://www.lafourchettebrasserie.com/La%20Fourchet...

Dom
That looks amazing. It's the first time I've tried this so am a little nervous but even if it doesn't hold together, it'll still taste nice.
My only concern is the mushroom duxelle being too wet and soaking through the pastry. Bought some nice pâté too to smear on top of the beef. Hopefully wrapping the lot in pancetta will keep everything in place within the pastry.

That all sounds lovely. Is that "chicken two ways" for main - sous vide and ballotine?http://www.lafourchettebrasserie.com/La%20Fourchet...

For 35 quid? Bloody hell that's good value. Would be more like 50 at my old place!http://www.lafourchettebrasserie.com/La%20Fourchet...

I'm cooking chicken breast stuffed with fresh thyme, lemon zest and parmesan, wrapped in proscuitto ham (sp?), served with roasted cherry tomatoes and fresh pasta in a tomato sauce... no idea about dessert yet, but I'm sure I'll find something suitably delicious in one of the many patisseries across the road from where I work!
Champagne, of course, and a good, crisp white wine.

So tomorrow night 'Slickess' has decided to provide the dinner etc. Now she's anti-valentines day (waste of money, every day is Valentines with Slickus blah blah) which is a result for me as it's another day in my book.
But she's away over the weekend so now taking me out for dinner. I say taking me out for dinner, a curry...score! She is also starting up her own photgraphy company, and she is trying to find different locations for shoots. So after the ruby, i'm being dragged along to a strip club to have a butchers around the place with her, so she can also speak to the owner.
I now love Valentines days...

I've decided to spoil the good lady wife on Saturday night. My planned menu is: Canapés, Cheese Soufflé, fillet steak with green beans and potato pancakes. Pudding is still undecided but wanting to do something deconstructed - was thinking a trifle but really not sure it will translate well in deconstructed form.
Hoping for at least a peck on the cheek Saturday night
