The generic London eateries

Pod, ITSU, Eat, Pret, Abokado, Wasabi, and others, all offering quite similar sorts of foods, and nothing that would begin to fill you up for under a fiver minimum.
I know there's always been a lot of them, but these days they are just everywhere, and you'd think that outside of hoisen duck wraps, sushi varieties, baguettes full of rocket, and some noodle or rice hot pot/soup, they'd be coming up with something better.
I like the sound of the food, and the presentation always looks good, but so far Ive tried a lot of different choices from most of them, but havent found anything that's wowed me. Also, with a decent sushi box coming it at £7.50, you need to spend some big money for lunch every day.
So what sort of things do you go for that are good, wholesome, and filling at lunch time? Ive been to Whitecross lane street market, and it's not bad, but Im quite fussy....has anyone else noticed that the people preparing the food also handle the money? I think that's a big no no, they wear protective gloves but happily use them to hold money that's been who knows where and has who knows what on it, puts me off.
Must admit Subway is tasty enough, but once or twice a week is more than enough.

Wasabi's hot food counter is good value, and very filling.
I quite like Pret and Eat for light meals, as well. How Pret manage to stay in business putting what seems like about £6 worth of smoked salmon in a £2.99 smoked salmon sandwich I don't know.
Tortilla (the burrito chain) is good.

Their claimed USP is cooking food to order so it's fresh, this would work if they didn't leave you waiting for about 15 minutes after it's cooked until your "to order" food is as stale and unpleasant as something from a supermarket's heat lamp shelf. Also overpriced and stingy with the portions.

Also that the primary ingredient in each sandwich is mayonnaise.
