And the Cheese.

Seriously though, wtf is this obsession with calling things "Hand & Flowers" before the item? Its all from the same pub, so its all "Hand & Flowers" surely?

I'd like to know the difference between duck fat chips and "Hand and Flowers" chips, both are on the menu.

Enjoy, it sounds lovely thoughm I could pick 5 different meals off that menu.

I love the omlette, I've had it several times. The others I don't think I've tried before but I do love a creme brulee. The Chips are brilliant, so have them as a side.

I like a nice crisp Riesling with the starter.

The prices don't look as extravagant as I expected. Not cheap, but not as bad as I thought they'd be. Is this a lunch menu?

It's a very nice place, though I really struggle to figure out what makes it two stars. The food is good, but very filling! It's just a friendly pub at the end of the day. We went shortly after Tom won the Great British Menu the second time around with the Pork - that was fantastic, it must have been a couple of months before it got awarded the second star.

I didn't find the starter of the duck parfait that good, it didn't really go well with the brioche toast. It was so sweet it should have been a pudding!

I would definitely go for the duck if went again for main, as it does look tasty and it did win the great british menu,

My girlfriend had the pistachio sponge Cake with Melon Sorbet and Marzipan I think, that was great. They don't seem to do the chocolate tart I had.

If you do go for the duck (and you should), get them to do you an extra 'jug' (ha!) of gravy. What they usually serve in their thimbles isn't sufficient smile

We went last week for our anniversary. It was wonderful!

I had the tuffle to start - if you like them it was supurb, possibly them nicest dish i have ever eaten. My wife had the moules which were also very good

For main i had pork which was very good but I was looking forward to the venison which was not on when we were there. My wife had the steak which basically a big hunk of meat almost crust like on the outside but still wonderful and tender in the middle. The duck fat chips are sublime.

We shared a cheese platter and rhubarb panacota for dessert. We were both dissapointed with the cheeses as they really were not to our tastes, mostly too extreme in taste but its personal preference after all. The Panacota was wonderful, it was a realy pretty dish and tasted great too.

Overall i was really pleased with the experience, not so sure on the rooms which I thought expensive for what you got but food wise I thought it was wonderful.

That really does look good value then. You have to get the duck and chips for the main, I saw Tom cook it on Masterchef: The Professionals last year and it looked sublime.

I'm lucky as one of my mates is a chef there clap

When I went last time he recommended either the duck or the venison, I went for the venison with ox tongue and it was lovely. Missus had the duck which was also fantastic.

Didn't think much of the white bait tbh, the scallops were nice as a starter, but not mind blowing like the main and desert! I think the desert was the the Creme Brulee, oh and we had a melon sorbet at some point, i think that was during lunch (we had lunch and dinnerlick)

oddly nothing really grabbed me from that menu, but my choice would be:

Moules Marinières with Warm Stout and Brown Bread. £9.50
Malt Glazed Cheek, Garlic Sausage and Potato Dauphine. £25.50
Hand & Flowers Chocolate and Ale Cake with Salted Caramel and Muscovado Ice Cream.

So watching Tom Kerridge on the TV and he says it's the only pub with Michelin stars. So, I guess I can just stroll in for a couple of pints and read the paper? Yet people seem delighted to have been able to book a table so is there a drinking area or is it all restaurant? scratchchin

It's the only pub with '2' Michelin stars. But yes, there is a tiny bar (4 stools?) you can have a pint at without eating. Also, it's only really weekend sittings that are tricky to get into ... we've frequently wandered in on a weekday night and got a table on the spot.

ETA We've also been turned away, a lot laugh

A colleague has now been there 4 times - the trick is to walk in and ask to look at what slots they have free in the booking menu.

I booked online two weeks ago - first free Saturday slot I could get was next August .... (though being the weekend after my birthday I've gone for it).
