Chicken from iceland;is this value for money?
Discussion
ive just been to iceland because the chicken shop decided to close eary..... again! So called in just to get some chicken as they're cheap even if its not the best.
The stuff i normally get is £20 a bag of 2.5kg cooked or £17 online when buying 4. The nutritional value is as below:

The stuff from iceland is 97% chicken and for 400g sliced is £2.50

or 800g diced for £5 (sorry about camera quality on this one; not sure what happened)

My question is iceland better value for money compared to the stuff i buy now? especially the sliced one?

So you don't want to buy fresh from the butcher and cook yourself?
The flavour of say, free range will be far superior to that of anything Iceland sells.
When I worked in a chicken processing factroy, they injected the breast with water, well not all water, there was a salt solution as well.
If it's health reasons you asked the question in the first place ,my tip would be fresh.

it's the cost that is the main factor. The stuff i buy now was aimed at bodybuilders, it does contain some salt however the one from iceland is slightly higher in content. The flavour of say, free range will be far superior to that of anything Iceland sells.

I wanted to ask if it was worth buying iceland chicken as its 97% chicken as looks as though it works out cheaper but i can't seem to come to a conclusion
If that helps?
I did buy fresh but was costing £7 per kg uncooked. Works out about £8 per kg cooked which is too much!

From the co-op you can get 3 whole chickens for £10. Put them in a low oven and cook slow then pick all the meat off. You'll end up with at least 3kg of meat.I wanted to ask if it was worth buying iceland chicken as its 97% chicken as looks as though it works out cheaper but i can't seem to come to a conclusion

Oh I see Body building right.
I understand that the price of fresh can be dearer, I was thinking if you placed you first post in the health forum you might care what you put in you body.
I'm a Butcher, when I see post on here about meat I like to put my fifty pence worth in ,so to speak.
That said, I really don't know the answer, as I have never been into Iceland, yet.
