That looks amazing.

The bottom picture is how I make pizzas even though I am trying to get them round

Not wanting to piss on your chips, but 'pizza stones' - in the oven or on the BBQ - after a while absorb the fat of every historic pizza and emit horrid rancid fumes henceforth, since they're impossible to clean properly.

I hate them.

I never had this problem and have had mine for years, there are quite a lot of specific instructions with it though including an initial sealing and hardening process.
Bbq pizza sounds interesting....

You wouldn't have this problem because it's utter bks basically.

Maybe.

But you'd have to get the stone really, really hot in order to burn off the stale oil of pizzas past.

I've never managed it in a domestic oven, although, admittedly I haven't tried getting a mahoosive Weber full of charcoal in order to roast one pizza... rolleyes

Yeah for sure, but given the only thing the pizza stone is coming into contact with is dough, your point re fat is rather moot. Unless you top a pizza like a yank, of course.

Mrs Puggit sells stoneware, and as a result we cook with it every time. No problems with 'rancid fumes' at all. Just follow the setting instructions and then clean with hot tap water only and a scraper.

Happy to give a small PH discount if anyone wants to discuss wink

Alternatively, go to any stone merchants and obtain some granite slabs, once hot, work well. A proper pizza cooks in 45 secs, whilst still not quite at that level, I've found the weber will do one in a 2-3 minutes. Really need to build the pizza oven this year, I have plenty of logs to burn!

I cut a piece of granite slab to fit the base of my gas barbeque a couple of years ago. (It came from the base of an old fireplace I pulled out.)

Works a treat for pizzas on the barbie, and we never have a problem cleaning it.
