I’m going to attempt one this weekend (food volume in a specific time). I can eat a lot as it is but this will be pretty hard I think.

Any prep tips the day(s) before? I was planning on eating pretty normally/less than usual this week and on Friday and Saturday drink loads of water to try and stretch my stomach.

Thanks. biggrin

More details please.

What are you eating, how much of it and what is the time limit?

more for intrigue as opposed to offering any advice. You could always send Adam Richman a message on twitter and see what top tips he provides. Pretend you are a Spurs fan and he'll probably respond as he is a huge Tottenham supporter.

I am a Spurs fan. smile

And that's a good idea! Cheers.

It's a huge burger, loads of fries + onion rings and the time limit is 20 minutes.

I once did 2 big macs, 3 double cheeseburgers, 2 large fries and a large milkshake. I tried to do it in 20 minutes but it took something like 33! frown

Do it standing up, and don't starve yourself beforehand.

the pro eaters (Joey Chestnut, Sonya Thomas etc) train by expanding their stomach by drinking gallons of water or milk. 3 days before the event.

Sounds like Hickory at Malton to me.

Went up there a few weeks ago but didn't do a challenge. Friendly place but very casual.

In terms of technique, build up meals from today then only water and very light stuff on the day of the event.

It's the burger one at the Pride of Paddington.

I got a reply from Adam Richman. He told me to get the bread soft with condiments, limit my water intake and use hot sauce.

Excellent that he responded.

Looking at that, I expect the challenge will be the expected mountain of chips. A triple stacked burger seems do-able, but three portions of fries could get a bit tricky. Oh, and that 20 mins is not a lot of time.

Good luck - we expect an update and of course pictures.

I saw a hot dog eating comp and the competitors were taking the dogs out of the rolls and dipping the rolls in water.

So with all this talk I took a trip up to Hickory Roadhouse last night for the burger challenge.

Didn't look all that big in the photos. What arrived was an absolute monster.

I'm sorry to say I failed miserably. Got about halfway through but as the hour ticked over I had to ask them to take it away, damn thing was giving me evils.

Photo to follow.

Was def bigger than it looks!

2lb of meat 1lb bun. Also a massive bowl of fries which I got halfway through. Was delicious but I just couldn't get anymore down. I have bought shame upon Pistonheads frown

The whole dipping your hotdog bun in water thing is simply to make it easier/quicker to swallow.
When adam says to limit your water intake its because that can make you feel full as it gets abosrbed by the bun/carbs and fills up your stomach over time. The hot sauce is to add variety for when you start feeling full and your tastebuds don't find the food as mouth watering to eat. Adam likes using hot sauce or guacamole to mix his tastebuds up abit for when they get bored.

It's worth checking out some of FuriousPete's videos to get an idea of how he manages it.

Here's one (of many) where he's eating a huge burger.

It's the weekend too, hope you managed it well!

Drinking vast quantities of just water can also do horrible things to your electrolyte balance...
