Homemade Ginger Beer
Discussion
Ah right. I made a dozen or more bottles of the stuff, of course the first bottle expding rattled a few others and they exploded too and it was like a chain reaction. Seriously I was frightened to go into the room, there were shards of glass in the ceiling and walls! Eventually I lobbed a few stones at the remaining bottles and smashed the lot from a safe distance

I've started off on a smaller scale. Mainly because I didn't have a big enough pan! If I want to make it alcoholic, is it simpply a case of giving it plenty of time?
I bought some kilner swing top bottles to use till I found out that glass was a big no no.

Did you put yeast in the brew? That's what makes the alcohol.
I did. I used this recipe.http://www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/recipes/old-fas...
The Mrs tried it with a kit that had a power mix to put in. We used glass bottle and metal lids with a crimping tool that you put on the top and smack with a hammer to seal. If one does blow up it makes a hell of a mess. We had a cap come off one bottle and it virtually emptied the bottle. A pint of ginger beer goes a long way and is very sticky

Did you read the recipe
'The ginger beer is ready to drink when fizzy, which will be within 12-36 hours, depending on how hot the weather is. Chill, then serve with plenty of ice and drink within 3 days (don’t drink if it smells old and yeasty).'
Of course I didn't, I'm a man.

I just wanted the opinion of people who have brewed some for themselves.
Why not try giving this a go
