Bottle of whisky as a gift.

My Dad turns 80 this month.
I'd like to get him a decent bottle of whisky
Budget is £50, stretchable to maybe £70?
I don't know what his tastes are in detail, but he likes Glenmorangie at the £20-ish price range..

Any ideas?

You may need to buy it online unless you have a decent Whisky shop near by

No need to spend all your budget. Save that for something extra.

If he likes the standard Glenmorangie, try the Quinta Ruban 12 Year Old which is has a Port finish.

It's a wonderful whisky and I have a couple of bottles of this at home. Goes down very well indeed and he'll certainly like it.

Either way whatever you buy, he'll like.

i've seen professed whisky fans run away screaming at ardbeg though... it's not for everyone. I tend to recommend it to anyone though!
