I like whisky, or more to the point Scotch Whisky. I also like a bargain.

So what is your favourite inexpensive whisky? Budget to be no more than 20 quid a bottle, but with 'bonus points' for the lowest you can go while retaining some semblance of drinkability.

I have some favourite malt whiskies but, for inexpensive whisky, I'd choose a blended one - Whyte & Mackay for me.

By shopping around you should still be able to pick up a bottle of BNJ for under £20 a go.

Other than that, as bog standard supermarket fayre goes, then Teachers is perhaps the best bet.

Tesco used to do some own brand single malt Islay. 10 and 12 year old. Very nice, and less than £20 a bottle. I have a bottle of each, only a tiny bit left in them as I cant find any more.

Bailie Nicol Jarvie Whisky ±£20.00 is about the best blend I've ever found in the price bracket.

£18.35 at the whisky exchange, pretty hard to source elsewhere tho.
taking 2 bottles to Le Mans as damp repellant for the team.
Contains enough Laphroaig to give it quality and keep my reputation for decent whisky intact.

from the advertising blurb
"It was considered, that for such an important celebration with guests from far and wide, that the famed single malt Laphroaig might be too heavy for everyone’s taste, so that malt was blended with a range of high quality highland malts, including Glenlivet, and a grain whisky."

Otherwise Bailie Nicol Jarvie (BNJ), similar mix of Ardbeg and Glenmorangie, currently hovering around the 20 quid mark.

VAT 69 for me:

It has the 'tarry / peaty' characteristics of Lagavulin, but is a lot lighter.

Another vote for Bailie Nicol Jarvie here. Fantastic for the price. Scores 95/100 in The Whisky Bible. Best place to find it is Morrisons wink

Can you still get Johnny Walker black label for less than £20?

I quite like it.
