and the penny dropped.... toasted cheese sandwich
Discussion
I'm down in the work canteen looking at the various offerings and not feeling massively inspired. In previous weeks they've started to get some proper mature cheddar, ok it's probably still cheap but its an improvement on previous stuff. They've also upgraded the sliced bread.
Bread in toaster
Grated cheese on toast
Add Grace's hot sauce that stays in my drawer, some ketchup and blast in microwave for 20 seconds
Sit at my desk with a strong cup of tea thinking why do I not eat this more often
I'm tempted to go back for another.

If you just microwave the cheese until melted you can drain off the fat as most cheese splits after a certain heat..
Making it a little less low in fat..
Then spoon over perfect toasted bread..
Yum..
Don't drain the fat down the sink though.. It will set..
Happy toasty
Happy belly

I'm playing. Good shout on the fat down the sink though. I was forever draining tuna oil down the sink in a place I rented and come winter it set like candle wax.

Cut a pitta bread in half across the middle, wiggle it open and stuff each pocket with thin slices of cheddar cheese and some chopped fresh green chilli. Toast to enter sandwich Heaven.
Keep meaning to try pittas in the panini press. I'll pick some up after work. Or lunch if I can't hold off!Mobile Chicane said:

We used to do a variation on this with garlic naan bread and a sandwich press. Ahhh, university days...To be fair I didn't fancy doing that in the work toaster lol but yeah that's my normal preferred method.
I've gotten into buying big bags of spinach and freezing them. I then take the bag scrunch it up and i've got flakes of spinach. I'm going to find the strongest cheddar from the local some nice white bread (got to be white bread for a cheese toastie), onions, tomato and hot sauce and boshmmmmmmmmmm.

You can get panini bread, which works really well, as its half cooked, you can leave it in longer to melt more. But anything works, rolls, sliced etc.I've gotten into buying big bags of spinach and freezing them. I then take the bag scrunch it up and i've got flakes of spinach.
