Hi all, first time poster looking for some advice. Wife and I have a night in Manchester at the end of the month and I am looking for somewhere nice to eat. I have made a reservation at Gaucho but have since lost my bottle a little on this as it is expensive. Has anyone here been there and if so is it worth it?

Also if anybody can recommend a nice place to eat, preferably a decent steakhouse, Mexican/South American or Spanish. We love Italian but fancy something a little different. I'm going to have a look at the menu for Las Iguanas later if anyone has been there?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Cicchetti

El Rincon de Rafa
Smoak @ the Malmaison
Michael Caine @ ABode

Gaucho is good, but pretty much exactly the same as every other Gaucho- so not much variety if you have been to one of the others.

Smoak at the Mal is indeed very good if you are after something a little nicer than the top of the chain market. Good cocktails at the seemingly very 'cool' bar too.

Come to think of it I would give it a 'highly recommended' in fact.

The French at the Midland Hotel.

Now run by Simon Rogan. I hear very good things indeed.
