Magners Irish Pear Cider

Got some of this today on a whim, and I'm very pleased I did! It's very refreshing on a hot day like this. It doesn't have the bitterness that regular cider can have, in a way it's more like an alcopop in taste. It's 4.5% alcohol, but certainly doesn't taste like it.

I bought a couple of bottles of Crabbie's Ginger Beer last weekend on a similar whim. Brilliant stuff when the suns out!!

I wasn't expecting to like this, but it's actually quite nice. A bit too sweet for me, but nowhere near as cloying as Kopparberg, Jacques, etc.

A good BBQ drink I think.

The reason it tastes like an alcopop...is because thats what it is!

The Magners range (and similar competitors) are basically fruit juice with alochol blended in. Ever wondered why they are so much sweeter and fruitier than traditional ciders / perrys?

Also, most pear ciders are mostly apple juice...two pints of pear juice and you will be having a trouser moment sharpish!

No apple in this at all. It's all pear.

If memory serves me correct about 15% juice !

Well, it's a cider, not a fruit juice. I would expect it to be mostly water, just like any other alcoholic drink served by the pint!

Correct for a Commercial cider like Bulmers but not so for the artisan produced ciders

I love Magners cider.

With plenty of ice, in this weather, it's great.

The fact you pack it with ice means you don't get so much of a hangover the next day too as you're taking in plenty of water.

Yes i wasnt counting the water content
