Eat them. I think the seeds been bred nowadays to be smaller and softer than they used to be, you barely notice them.

Of course, we all got told when we were younger that if we eat the seeds they could grow inside us and kill us. As I'm now in my 40s and have yet to hear of anyone dying due to "internal watermelon growth"... then I think it's probably fairly safe to eat them!

Watermelon is great.

Somen noodles are good when its hot too - thin wheat noodles on ice with a soy dipping sauce. Like air-conditioning from the inside out.

I remember a thread quite some time ago, with you saying you ordered over a hundred quids worth of spirits for cocktails.

no problem with that, infact I would rather like it if someone shared that kinda thing with me.

how did the cocktails turn out? i think i remember you said you got loads of different flavoured spirits like horseradish and watermelon flavour. any good?

Watermelon, or ice creams for the win! The only savoury dishes I can think of would be chilled soups or light chilled salads.

Freeze a banana and blend it with a pint of milk. Awesome and I don't even like bananas.

I do like to experiment drunk

My main learning with various vodkas and fruit liqueurs is that flavoured vodkas in the main taste very artificial and liqueurs are all too sweet for me.

My mission this summer is to perfect the mojito. I'm not a fan of the murky green bits in the bottom, so I've been using bashed-up Fox's glacier mints. I'll be interested to see how a special mojito mint syrup compares once this arrives.

I also bought a classic Waring blender expressly for the purpose of making frozen cocktails - like a grown-up Slush Puppie. Any fruit juice will do, frozen in ice cube trays. Just bung it all in the blender and whizz it together with the spirit of your choice. Hic!

Not really food as such, but Earl Grey with lemon in this weather is fab.

My favourite things to eat in hot weather are tomatoes. Not a big fan of watermelon.
