Ok, I know I shouldn't like Pot Noodles but I do, especially the dirty curry one.

Also, as I'm on a bit of a health kick and trying to nix the bread intake they are good for lunches at work.

So, are there any decent instant noodles out there? Dare I say it, 'gourmet' instant noodles?

Please help me, I'm considering a Burberry wrap on my car and I think it is down to the Pot Noodles...

The best (and cheapest) are from Oriental supermarkets.

Nong Shim cup noodles are my favourite. The packaging is all in Korean apart from the magic words, 'hot taste!'

That's rather naughty that there's no warning on the packet. No pictures of chillies - nothing!

You can try making some of these, they work quite well but IMO need more noodles than it says in the recipe

Use this sort of thing to make them in: http://www.wilko.com/food-storage/wilko-beaker-400...

Your trying to knock bread on the head? what about having wholemeal flat bread? When I was dieting and reducing my carb intake (getting down to 20-30% carbs) I would eat soup with toasted wholemeal pitta bread for lunch, but id have lunch in the evening and my main meal of salad/meat/cheese & fruit in the afternoon.

Beg pardon; how is switching to wholemeal avoiding bread?

Not cutting out bread, just limiting it during the day. Lot of rallying coming up in autumn/winter, need to keep weight in check.

I eat a lot of flatbreads etc, my main kitchen activity is Middle Eastern so we have them a lot, mainly home made.

Anyway, thanks for tips, will have a look around and pick up some bits. Mainly want a hot filling dish in addition to some other bits I'll have, fruit, buts, assorted hagro-biscuits etc.

Its not really BUT its a different type of carb, white bread is simple carbs, wholemeal is complex, they have differnent stuff in and are digested differently iirc. It does depend what the op is trying to do. I dont know as the ops just said hes trying to nix bread, im just trying to get the discussion of bread going. Im not the most knowledgable person on dieting, I just have a bit of knowledge from my experience last year.

Personally i wouldnt substitute bread for noodles, id substitute bread for fruit/veg/salad perhaps.

Chinese supermarket noodles all the way. They are cheap enough to take pot luck with flavours etc, as somebody said before Nong Shim and Mama are good.

I've got two of these hiding under my desk for when I can't be arsed going to the shops:

Buy decent oriental pot noodles, then cut fresh veg and pre-cooked meat pretty small/very thin. Alternatively, use a few frozen peas/bits of sweetcorn, whatever other offcuts of veg you have in the fridge/larder. Bung that lot into a proper pot noodle, pour on the water, leave for 5 mins and it cooks all the stuff and turns out a proper meal.

I use the end of the sunday roast for this as lunch a couple of times a week. It makes an incredibly filling and tasty lunch. Wafer thin cut roast beef/lamb/pork/chicken in a pot noodle. Nom.
This is the equivalent of the British sandwich. Take a packet, add some greens, some bits of pre cooked meat (ham would do) and some water.

If you want to take it further add a dash off fish sauce, lemon sauce and some chopped fresh chillies.

Sit back and watch your colleagues smell the aroma in awe of your Asian skills

+1.

they are rather good, and even have mushrooms 'and st' in them too (freeze dried) and are rather good.

I order them in bulk to save even more money.

but unlike you, I tend to stick the majority of the noodles into 2 bits of bread and consume.

Someone remind me what noodles and bread are both made from?
