Nice country pub near Ludlow?

Although the Bottle & Glass in Picklescott closed a couple of years ago, there are still some gems in South Shropshire not far from Church Stretton.
Wentnor is the other side of The Long Mynd from Church Stretton, and is home to The Crown.
Head out of Church Stretton towards Much Wenlock, and keep an eye out for signs to Cardington. There you'll find probably Shropshire's oldest pub The Royal Oak. It is a lovely country pub in an unutterably pretty village and, like The Crown above, has been in the Good Beer Guide for as long as I can remember.
If you keep going to Much Wenlock, then go to The George & Dragon. A very historic pub with great ale and no nonsense food. Once you've had your lunch, have a wander around the town as it is very agreeable. I lived there for nearly two years and still miss it.
Or you could head out of Stretton, down the A49 towards Craven Arms. Shortly before you get to the town, you'll see a right turn signed (IIRC) for Bishops Castle. Turn there, then very shortly the village of Wistanstow will be signposted. Turn right, up the single track road into the village, and you should see The Plough on your right. It's the brewery tap for the Wood Brewery, so good ale is guaranteed, and the food is good and reasonable. We stopped there a few years ago on a Shrops / Staffs PH run-out.
Hopefully that gives you some options.

www.thejollyfrog.com is your only place,been eating there for years,recommend it, a local institution ! you will also be very close to Lord Plymouth's Farm Shop(one of the best) on the A49 where you turn off the A49 for the Jolly Frog,great driving road too,most of my cars have been taken to the red line on the long stretch !
