Currently sat in the local curry shop waiting for a delicious large and hopefully very tasty takeaway.

I've noticed whilst people watching that when the customers come and collect their pre ordered takeaways, they alway use their first name to order and collect. I always use my last name when booking a table or ordering a curry.

Not that it's the most pressing subject in the world, but just out of curiosity would you use first name or surname? I suppose there's no wrong or right. But which name do they want when they say 'and what's the name sir?'

I used to use my surname but was forever having to spell it, so it's easier to use my first name, and that is with a really easy surname

been away for the week, rafting, kyacking and hiking up skafell pike.
gets back stinking, bruised and battered with a weeks worth of facial hair and have to ask if my order for 'joanne' is ready!

Surname, but it sometimes gets mistaken for a forename. In the local curry house I am usually referred to as 'Sarah's Dad' - she's pretty well known in curry restaurants...

I order/book tables using my first name because if I try to use my surname I have to spell it at least twice and explain what a hyphen is to the moron on the other end of the phone, too much hassle!

I generally use one part of my name. I am double-barrelled but people always mishear my christian name and/or get confused by the two surnames so I use the first part of my surname which is the easiest.
