At the request of my brother who lives abroad, I have booked the Ledbury for mid-October. Living in Perth Australia, he's never had a Michelin starred meal and I expect we'll be very impressed.

My questions aren't so much about the meal but more about the logistics.

Any recommendations for pre dinner drinks in the area? I plan to get there reasonably early as I hate being late and would therefore appreciate somewhere advice of where to have a cocktail or a decent beer. Supplementary to that question we plan to do the tasting menu and accompanying wine flight, will I need a pre dinner cocktail, I really don't want to end up tonto'd half way through the meal!

Secondly - How long does the tasting menu take to clear? Is 2 hours a reasonable assumption?

Finally - What do you reckon the best tube station to take is? I need to get back to Kings Cross and my wife will be 6 months pregnant so the closer or with better chance for cabs on a Sunday the better.

Thanks in advance, I will report back with how the dinner went later in the year!

Can't answer your other Qs, but the closest station to there is Ladbroke Grove. From there you can take the Circle line to King's Cross.

Re: cabs, just download the Addison Lee app and you can book in advance. They'll tell you how much it will cost, when it will arrive, the reg of the car, etc - much better than hailing a cab on the street with a pregnant wife.

Wife and I did the tasting menu last year and took about 3.5 hrs start to finish. Service was excellent and not rushed at all. In fact it felt like we were only there for a couple of hours.

As your OH is pregnant I'd let them know as they changed the courses according to my wife's tastes as I mentioned when booking she doesn't like mushrooms.

Overall I'd say best restaurant I've ever been to, sure you'll love it to.
