Got vodka, got Tangfastics. How many Tangfastics should I put in a 70cl bottle?

Thanks in advance.

I usually put 400g of whatever fruit I use into a 70cl bottle.

Be prepared to have to filter out the sludge... hurl

Thanks all. I've gone for equal volumes of vodka and cola Tangfastics for my initial brew.

Always more than you think!

It's worth running it through a coarse filter before drinking - some sweets make the vodka taste a bit powdery. Not sure if Haribo's do this as I've not tried using them before.

Mars Bar vodka (with cream) is also good, as is Fox's Fruits (with the green ones removed!)

Reporting back as required.

The Tangfastics dissolved well enough into the vodka, but once in the fridge it all congealed into a gelatinous gloop, akin to the 'CSV' of Dirty Takeaway fame. Hideous.

If making for a stag do / student party - go for it. For anything remotely civilised - no way.

However I am tempted by the Skittles dissolved in vodka for Bonfire Night. evil

It should unset when out of the fridge, I made skittle vodka, some hard boiled sour sweets vodka and, refreshers vodka and jelly baby vodka, the jelly baby set into a solid in the fridge but turned back into a drink when left out on the side smile

Dunno about tangfastic colours, but with jellybabies it's best to be racist and leave the black ones out, makes for a much nicer colour in the end.

No, try Refreshers, a four pack will be perfect or drumsticks is my other favourite smile

Did the skittles one a few years back. Tasted lovely but the process of filtering the goo (I assume gelatin?) was pretty grim. After experimenting with various methods of filtration I found the best approach was to use a cafetiere. After each pass I had to rinse the filter screen out in hot water to de-goo it, and it took a fair few passes to get rid of it all. Was worth it in the end though.

For skittke vodka dont out the green ones in with the rest or you will get brown vodka. You can either eat them or make green only vodka. It will go green then.

For straining. Use paper coffee filters, muslin or one of those stands and bags for making jam that you get from lakeland.

The stuff you're straining off is actually the Hydrogenated Vegetable oil

Skittles vodka is pretty good, it makes the cheap supermarket-branded vodkas more useful. Made some using a cheap 70cl bottle of asda vodka, ended up using about 4-5 small packets of skittles. People say you need to leave it in for afew days but to be honest that's not necessary afew hours is fine, especially if you are shaking the bottle every now and then. Once the skittles have gone while they're useless. I omitted green and purple ones with mine. Some like making seperate flavours, some like mixing, its up to you. Just don't get the stuff on your hands because it's very sticky!
