Asda "Extra Tasty" whole chicken in a bag

Burgmeister, would the chicken have had a better life if the op had paid a tenner for it? Maybe if he'd had it prepared by gordon ramsey, not cooked in a bag, the chicken would have been happier.
I don't know, it depends on the welfare standards of a £10 chicken vs. a £5 chicken. It just irritates me a little that supermarket poultry seems to be the worse off of all supermarket meat; you can't exactly keep a cow in a cage.

t in some cases.Sounds better than that other 'seventies' thing; chicken-in-the-basket! Who in the name of all things stupid thought it a good idea to put a greasy roast/fried piece of meat in an unwashable piece of dead grass woven into a bowl shape, when perfectly good porcelain has been invented?
I got my bag chicken from M&S... part of the eat for £10 range, considering the chicken would have sold for £8.50 normally, it was good value I thought.
Forgot to say that on mine it was recommended that you take it out of the bag for last 15 mins to crisp the skin up... didnt share any of the skin at all.

Taste or politics?
On the taste front how did it go?
To me the best part of the chicken is the skin, does the bag part of this make it more like one of those pre cooked ones you get that are not crispy but are very succulent, or a crispy crispy skin where you just start pulling it off and putting it to one side and hiding it from the family as you carve so you can sneak it?
On the politics front we need here similar threads that we find on global warming such as
Cheap Chickens, the Scientific debate
Cheap Chickens, the Political debate
