I like Badachro a lot, as I do the Mishnish on Mull... but (as I say all the time) the Highlands do most things best, but they do rather fall short in the boozer dept. Applecross and Kylesku do somewhat buck the trend.

I could name 4 or 5 Cotswolds Inns that are great - with really, really fab food... but having been all over the UK I think The Kirkstile Inn by Loweswater in Cumbria is the best mix of atmosphere, micro brewed beer, home cooked food and a glorious setting. My top tip. If you're in the Lakes... go.

Just reminded me..........Mort Subite, Brussels. Brilliant beers, faded decor, real mix of folk and some of the staff are woderfully surly.
