Starter recommendations

Got some friends coming round Saturday and thought we'd do doner kebabs and rumbaba a la Bunny's takeaway but don't know what to do for starter apart from ten pints of lager. Any suggestions?

Mmmm could be. I was thinking along the lines of a can of Tango but a la carte.

Serve the Tango in small glasses on top of a doily, for that 70's seaside hotel je ne sais quoi.

As someone who was not alive in the 70s (just) - where did the whole orange juice as a starter originate? and why?
