In the depths of my freezer lurks various chicken, pork and beef bits and pieces. They could easily have been there for a few years. Could I make some kind of slow cooker recipe out of them or is it a recipe for a couple of days sat on the bog?

Should be safe but probably past its best.

Beef stew and dumplings for starters. Chicken curry another. Pork and Apple?

The meat won't kill you, although fatty cuts might taste a bit stale due to the fat component going rancid. (Even in the freezer.)

Curry / chilli are your best bets.

I've eaten several years old frozen meat no end of times (perils of a chest freezer), it's done me no harm.

It'd be fine but unless you're a miser and can't stand to throw it out, I'd bin it and start over.

It's like going through your boxer short drawer. You know the elastic isn't as good as it once was; that the poo stains are there to stay and that they could go on giving for some time to come, but their finest hour has passed.

Throw that freezer-burnt meat in the dustbin and move on; and buy some new boxer shorts whilst you're at it!
