Just back from the US where I sampled some great wings.

Tangy, vinegary flavour with a real hot kick.

I have tried in the past to find similar in London, but failed.

Anyone know where to get proper US style hot wings in London?

Here's a selection of places near the city, ordered based on my recommendation:

The Orange Buffalo
http://www.theorangebuffalo.com/
This is a food van near brick lane, they are open pretty much every day (check their twitter) and serve all home made sauces. If you ask nicely they'll let you sample a sauce before you order wings coated in it. My favourite place for wings without a doubt.

Sticky Wings

Actually on brick lane. I've only been to this place once, but they are very authentic, portions sizes are huge!

Red Dog saloon

This is a proper american themed restaurant that serve amazing wings. Warning, do not be tempted to try the hot wings challenge - I regretted that the day after frown Burgers recommended too.

I bloody adore buffalo wings, they're like the food version of crack.

You can buy franks buffalo wing sauce in the UK and so can make a half decent job of them at home.

Did this over the weekend, cooked the wings in an airfryer. Bloody marvellous

Make em at home, just dredge them in flour and old bay seasoning, bake until crispy and then toss in melted butter and Franks Red Hot sauce.

Franks wing sauce is better than the hot sauce.

An American I work with rates the wings at Meatliquor as the best he's had in the UK and seeks them out at pretty much every opportunity

I can confirm that the wings at Meatliquor are fantastic, especially with the cheesy dipping sauce they come with. The super hot wings at Red Dog on the other hand are so ludicrously hot that they are basically inedible unless there's a Man vs Food type bet involved.

The wings at Patty & Bun are the best I've had in London, although they're not exactly what the OP describes.

I don't remember the Meatliquor ones being much different to the Bodeans Diablo wings TBH - not that that's a bad thing!

The crack analogy is a good one, I happen to totally agree with everything you said!

Do these restaurants roast or deep fry on the whole?

I love the wingette part myself - the bit with two bones in next to the tip. Best part of the entire chicken - even the oyster.

Deep fry most likely

Just Google image searched "wingette" - was not disappointed
