Best places to eat Covent Garden/Strand?

This weekend, I'm taking the OH to see the Lion King at the Lyceum as she's 'wanted to see it her whole life' apparently - or something like that. We're in need of somewhere nice (but not breaking the bank) to eat afterwards but I don't know London restaurants too well as always there for brief visits.

Can any Knowledgable PHers reccomend me somewhere to eat? Don't want Michelin starred food so nothing too extravagant but has to be tasty.

Trip Advisor as usual is a mixed bag of reviews so no indication.

Try Brasserie Blanc which is above the piazza in Covent Garden... Not expensive and the food is good. (020 7379 0666).

I like Sophie's Steakhouse for a decent, good value meal.

My advice is to get out of the square. There's nothing worth eating there if you're spending conservatively.

Sophie's is great, and does a good line in cocktails. There's The Real Greek in an old pub up on Long Acre for a bit of novelty (chain) Greek food. Osteria Dell'Opera does a decent job of Italian on Drury Lane.

I was inthe real greek a few weeks ago, I found the food to be well priced and very tasty indeed. My other half who is greek thought the food was pretty authentic too. only downside is that it was busy and felt a bit cramped.

Had a great meal with my GF at Clos Maggoire a whilse back and next to covent garden, great food and very romantic if its just the two of you

I agree Clos is nice.

For something more informal Belgo is nice in a beer, mussels and chips kind of way.

If you want REALLY convenient, Bill's new brasserie is actually attached to the Lyceum after it failed miserably as Canteen.

ETA other than Southern Joes, ALL of them are literally 1 minute walk away.
