Pod coffee machines - Which is best?

I've been looking at getting a pod coffee machine for a while and there looks to be some good Black Friday deals so might as well today. Does anyone have any recommendations on which brand is best in terms of the pods? Or are they interchangeable?

I have a Neespresso, and the pods are really good, high quality coffee. Only problem is, is that you're locked into using Nespresso pods.

But just recently a new company have appeared selling pods for Nespresso machines. Just order myself a load last night to test them out!

We have had a Lavazza Mio pod machine for a couple of months now. Very impressed with it, tend to go through two 'selection' boxes of coffee per month.

Highly recommended.

Tassimo seem to have the best selection of flavours IMO..
My old man has one and I rate the coffee from that quite highly.

Dualit have been offering their own pods for Nespresso machines as well. I have tried some and didn't find them as good as Nespresso's own.

I have a Nespresso machine at home and it's nice to not have to walk (dragged) around the shop in Regent street.

The Dualit ones were mentioned in this month's Which? Magazine; they weren't impressed. I don't think they're that much cheaper than the genuine Nespresso.

We're very happy with our Nespresso. If you get one with an Aeroccino make sure you keep it spotlessly clean.

Nespresso for me, why bother looking for one with cheaper compatible pods, if I wanted cheaper coffee I wouldn't have bought the machine in the first place - sort of defeats the point!

Some of the cheapers machines (Dolce-Gusto? etc) seem to be more like Klix vending machine style coffee than proper espresso.

They're simple to order and delivered quickly so it's not really an issue having to find somewhere to buy the pods.

I guess what I'm trying to say is "I'd recommend the Nespresso!"

(oh and all the various Nespresso machines do virtually the same job, so don't worry about buying an expensive one)

I ordered Nespresso coffee capsules last Sunday and they arrived Monday. No charge as this was their standard delivery. God knows what happens if I click and pay £5 for express delivery !!!

Great little machine with good coffee. Tried the snide capsules which were a tight fit but the quality of the coffee was nowhere near the nespresso stuff. Mine was a present and doesnt do the heated milk thing but who cares , its simple , clean and fuss free delivery hot coffee in about 20 seconds. Not bad for £90.

The patent on Nespresso pods has now expired. Expect some of the big players in the coffee market to turn up anytime soon with their brands in the Nespresso format.

A consideration for the Phillips Senseo is that the majority of pods are compostable

Had my Nespresso machine for 5 years now and been very pleased with it and the quality of the coffee.

Why restrict yourself to their coffee?

Get a decent espresso machine and you can have any coffee you want...

Got a Tasimo at work with some Costa Latte pods but the ones that aren't leaking when you open the packet are not as good as the Nescafé Gold Blend Instant that we use for the hoi polloi.

At home I have a Nespresso and I have to admit,it makes a good cup of coffee with a nice strong Indrya capsule.
