Toaster / Kettle recommendations

Wife has asked for a new toaster / kettle for Xmas (yes really). Have done the usual google but was hoping to get some personal recommendations.

We have a basic toaster, the problem is it's too shallow, so the top centimetre or so of a standard slice of Hovis is raw as the toaster doesn't go deep enough to get the whole slice in properly, so taking advantage of the request, any good toasters?

I've been on the lakeland website and it looks like the Dualit Architect looks a decent quality one? Any other recommendations or endorsements?

Kettle, anything goes really. We live in a hard water area so these all glass jobs are a no-no as over time they limescale will make it look ugly, but anything "cool" or "gadgety" would be welcome.

It does everything well in fairness, although you do have to turn the toaster down a bit if you are doing a second batch of toast immediately after the first.

I have the Bosch Styline in white though it comes in various colours with a matching toaster:

I like it because it has the capability to heat water to various temperatures - 80C for green tea, 90C for coffee, 100C for black tea.

Liking the Bosch, but I've gone with Tuvra's recommendation and gone with the DeLonghi. Was £80 delivered via John Lewis. Job jobbed.

I'm tempted but just think its a bit on the expensive side for a water boiler.

We have a Breville kettle with Brita filter.
I'd never have any other kettle now, it really does make a difference to the taste of hot drinks.

After struggling to find consensus here I risked a Klarstein Bonjour Toaster, got from ebBay but also available on Amazon. Was a bit of a risk as there were good comments, but not many.

Has worked well for me, browns both sides very well and ... is long enough to take Hovis White Bread sideways - not their luxury breads though.

I have a Tefal toaster at the moment that's just started to blow the fuses in the house if I use the left slots, it's being replaced today (with something cheap and cheerful probably) but the one thing I really liked about it was the "bagel" button that only toasted the sliced side and warmed the other side a little. It's not something I've found on other units and after my Tefal "professional" pans have fallen apart and my toaster failed I refuse to buy anything else from them.

Can't kill our Porsche Design kettle which is a pain because it pisses water everywhere when you try to pour from it!
