I've got a whole turkey that went into the deep freeze 4 years ago. Anyone know if it would it still be safe to eat?

It will be absolutely fine to eat. Given that it has been frozen for 4 years it may have some freezer burn on the skin but you won't know till you defrost it.

Thanks everyone. I'll defrost it and see what it looks/smells like then take a punt. Been nice knowing you….

I have a similar query...

Got some meat hidden in freezer that is anywhere from 6 months to 2 years out of date, are they safe to eat?

Fish (some fillets and dabs, etc)
pork (tenderloin and chops)
bacon

I was going to start a fresh in Jan and assume if I have not eaten it by now then it gets thrown.

OH refuses to go near any of it.

I ate some haddock fillets I found in the freezer which were about 2 years old. Tough as old boots I'm afraid. Only killed me a little bit though, but I recovered.

The biggest issue I find is how the food is contained - if it's in airtight shrinkwrap it's usually ok, anything else and the freezer dries it out - how long it has been in there dictates how dry and tough it is!

Im slowly converting my freezer so that everything is in freezer boxes... less room to store crap, but then I shouldnt have much in there and it should last longer, being there is only 2 of us.
