I like a Weißbeer. I can get Erdinger where I am but I'm told off German collegues and friends that this isn't one of the nicer ones to go for. I've just booked to go to Berlin for my 40th in June. I'll be sampling a few!
Out of interest, are there any must do's and don't bother withs when visiting Berlin? I've been to Germany many times but so far, not been to Berlin. I'm staying in the Raddison Blu (with the giant aquaruim).

Weihenstephaner is definitely my favourite. I prefer the hefeweizen (blue label) to the kristallweiss (white label). It's widely available in supermarkets and is sometimes included in promotions, which gives me an excuse to stock up.
Don't forget to give the bottle a good swirl once you have poured out 2/3 of the beer, then top up your glass. This mixes the yummy sediment into the remaining beer for maximum flavour.

There are a couple of decent German style ones brewed in the UK too. Try Meantime's or Camden's Wheat beer.

I usually buy German beers from Beers of EuropeCan't go far wrong with Franziskaner or Weihenstephaner seeing as you can get them easily in the Supermarkets. Andechs, Julius Echter and Hacker-Pschorr make some other good Hefe's.
Kapuziner is probably my favourite hefe, bit more spice than some. Ayinger Ur-Weisse is a really good dunkelweiss to look for.
