Some of you may remember that I'm trying to get a really tall meringue on lemon meringue pie, with some success

Having bought a cheap blowtorch last weekend (for steak laugh) I'm considering using it to caramelise the outside height before putting it in the oven as usual, but on a lower heat
Thoughts?

You wouldn't be the first to use a blowtorch on meringue
I remember Paul Hogan using a blowtorch to make toast (that was many years ago)

I'd cheat and make the meringue 'lid' separately.

I was discussing this last night. I asked, "Could you make a meringue castle?" They said, "No!"

I suppose I could make it in segments with a blowtorch!

I think you could, if you used the blow torch on a bit at time

Make the pie and use the blow torch to achieve perfect shading at the end.
