Restuarant recommendation - 30 mins from Heathrow

I've never had a bad steer from you boys and girls so I once again seek your sage advice.

I have a friend coming in from the US and stopping over at Heathrow for a night.
I want to take her for dinner somewhere good.
Needs to be within 30 mins drive of Heathrow - but not heading into London.

Preferably somewhere countrified and with a typically English feeling (you know - the sort of thing that chicks from the states would go all gooey about)

I need a good restuarant, - but not somewhere so exclusive that I can't actually get a booking.

PHer landlord owns the old swan pub in great missenden. It's a bit further than you've asked for but very highly rated by those who have been.

When I said make her go 'gooey' it was meant metaphorically - not literally or physically.

We are old friends - and both married. The suggestion of places that have rooms, whilst well intentioned, is misplaced.

If i was pitching at more then old friends catching up I would be booking dinner, lots of wine and rooms at the Waterside Inn and be done with it.

Your chances of getting a reservation for the Fat Duck are microscopic (they sell out within a fraction of a second of becoming available) but the Hinds Head is also owned by Bluminthal and has a very good reputation.
