Yes, a pork shoulder would be good for a long slow cook. It will pull apart after a decent slow roast. I quite often add onions and carrots to the pan and cover with foil for the majority of the cook at 130/140 deg. This will keep it moist and you can also make a great gravy with the liquid. You can raise the temp and remove the foil to crisp up the meat at the end of the cooking time.

I just did some pulled pork in my slow cooker today. I used pork shoulder. Its awesome. It falls to pieces if you look at it. It was marinaded with a dry spice rub for 18 hours and then cooked for 9 hours in a homemade bbq sauce. Nomnomnom.

Asda are doing shoulder joints for £3 a kilo right now. The beauty of slow cooking is that using supermarket meat is perfectly acceptable smile

Using supermarket meat is never acceptable!

Agree with the others that shoulder is great, but a boned leg works fine too, and will 'pull' beautifully. I have a shoulder from a rare breeds farm shop near me waiting for exactly this treatment this weekend. Slurp.
