I love a good bitters Vermouth, so versatile.

Martini, Cinzano or Noilly Prat.

All of the 3 mentioned above are a nice drink, along with a Campari. Great flavours to work with.

As an aside:-
I am so pleased that Martini are back in Motor Racing with Williams F1 as title sponsor. I remember the Lancia Rally cars on posters (all over my bedroom walls)in Martini colours. The Lancia 037 is still my Lotto car.

A covert here too. Antica Formula is terrific vermouth and is worth trying. It makes a terrific Manhattan or Negroni.

Agreed; one I always make sure I have a new bottle ready to open in case I run dry of an evening.

A current favourite:

I'll take Manhattan

60 ml Maker's Mark bourbon
15 ml Cherry Heering Liqueur
30 ml Martini Rosso
2 dash Angostura Bitters

Stir with ice and strain into a chilled glass; works equally well with apricot brandy instead of cherry.

Hi there,

I work in the drinks industry and it looks like 2014 is going to be a great year for Vermouth.

In the past few months we have seen the launch of some great new products inc Mancino :-

and La Quintinye Vermouth Royal

Plus there are another couple of brands on the horizon.

One of my current favourites is Cocchi, their Americano is superb and their Di Torino in a Negroni is sublime.

Glad to see such things are making a come-back.

I love Lillet, however this is nigh on impossible to find in the UK at anything like a sensible price.

Hi there,

We still sell Lillet. It used to be a decent brand when looked after by Marblehead, but when it moved back to Pernod Ricard it got lost in amongst all there other brands and there does not seem to be any focus on it.

Bump! Holy thread resurrection etc...

Anyone got any opinions on Martini vs Cinzano vs the more expensive brands? I normally get Noilly Prat out of snobbery as much as anything else. hehe Lillet is lovely though.
