Wine to drink in 10 years

It's my 30th birthday this year and one of the presents I'd quite like is a few bottles or case of a nice wine that I could drink in ten years and enjoy on my 40th.

I'm not really a wine boff, but I've got ten years to get a better appreciation of wines. What would you recommend? Also, I've not really got anywhere proper to store the wine (no wine cellar at 30 = failed in life) so do I need to consider paying for storage as well?

Yes you probably will need to have it professionally stored as it probably wouldn't last keeping it under the stairs.

Unless you are going to get into wine collecting I'd just buy some really good stuff when you hit 40 rather than buy it now and keep it.

+1 if you want to buy now you would need to have it stored professionally.

If you still want buy now have a look at the Berry Bros & Rudd website they can arrange storage for you if you purchase from them. I'm sure they would help you with some advice to match your budget - there are many wines which will age well over 10 years without spending huge sums. Try Barolo, Brunello, Rioja and the usual French suspects Bordeaux and Burgundy.

Another option would be to put money aside now to buy later.
